Fund raising auction
To conclude the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of the Arbitration Ruling of Pope Leo X , the Organizing Committee is holding a fund raising auction.
On 29 September 1513, Pope Leo X decreed through his Arbitration Ruling the passage of “Pietrasanta, Motrone and their adjoining territories” from the dominion of Lucca to that of Florence. This gave rise to a new territorial entity, a new community that will for centuries remain tied to Florence and that will benefit from political stability, the certainty of having rights and peace. Versilia will witness a flowering of those jobs connected to art that are today veritable cultural and economic excellences of the territory, adding to the importance of the magnificent marble resources it possesses.
500 years later, during all of 2013, authorities and citizens alike created a vast programme of celebrations with institutional events promoted and organized by Municipalities, Entities/Agencies, Associations, Educational Institutes, and featuring seminars, meetings, concerts, literary prizes, exhibitions, historical representations and theme dinners.
At the end of the rich programme of celebrations, the Steering Committee for the Celebrations of the 500th Anniversary of the Arbitration Ruling by Pope Leo X is organizing a fund raising auction on 19 April, 2014 featuring works of art, drawings and paintings by Giovanni Balderi, Antonio Barberi, Giuseppe Bergomi, Girolamo Ciulla, Novello Finotti, Lodovico Gierut, Stefano Pierotti, Cinthya Sah, Choi Yoon Sook, Gabriele Vicari and any more. On Friday, 18 April, it will be possible to see what will be auctioned the next day.
