“Leggera Materia” is the title of the first series of events held at MuSA from June to October 2013 – whose rich programme was able to showcase the artistic treasures of various periods through projections, exhibitions, videos, seminars and virtual and technological contents –, that animated Pietrasanta’s summer season.
Matter has always been a symbol for Pietrasanta and of Versilia; although heavy by nature, it becomes “lightweight” (leggera in Italian) through the process that manufactures it, transforms it and turns it into sculpture, ornament, architecture, masterpiece. The passage from matter to work of art, through the hands of craftsmen or advanced technologies, is the focus of the event which uses an innovative approach to narrate a journey between tradition and creativity.
The virtual world, innovation and technology are the source of communication not only of matter but, above all, of history and of the skilled craftsmen who live and work in Pietrasanta.
“Leggera Materia” is comprised of 3 events: “Officina Contemporanea” from 14 June to 21 July 2013, which was part of “Homo Faber, la Mente e la Mano”; “Le Forme dei Marmi. La Versilia Medicea, 500 anni dopo. Sacro e Profano nella contemporaneità” from 3 August to 1 September 2013, part of “Le Mani Eccellenze in Versilia”; and, to conclude, “La Memoria della Pietra” from 7 September to 13 October 2013.
