School year 2012-2013 celebrated the 170th anniversary of the School of Fine Arts in Pietrasanta, which later became the Art Institute and is currently the Liceo Artistico Stagio Stagi arts high school. Founded, by decision of the Grand Duke, in 1842 by the sculptor and historian Vincenzo Santini, the school has provided and still provides not only a solid educational basis for many artists and craftsmen in the local area, but also identifies a culture for art that has made Pietrasanta a centre of creativity known throughout the world.
The inauguration ceremony of 8 April 2013 was followed by a series of events from 12 April to 28 June 2013 in various venues of the historic city centre. For the occasion, MuSA hosted an exhibition from 13 to 28 April 2013, with works created throughout the school years, a rich series of video interviews to former pupils, old footages and stories of a school that has become a true point of reference.
